Nursery years
Families often ask for nursery. At TESMA that stage is Kindergarten 1 and Kindergarten 2: early classrooms for language, number, and play, and for the habits Grade 1 depends on.
Kindergarten 1
Children practise separating from a parent, sitting for a story, taking a turn, and using words a teacher can understand. Play is the method: songs, blocks, outdoor time, and talk.
Listening, trying again, and looking after their own belongings start here. Those are the habits the next class assumes.
Kindergarten 2
Letters, numbers, and mark-making become daily, still with objects and stories rather than a pile of worksheets. Children who are ready begin to read simple words and write their name.
By the end of Kindergarten 2, a child should be able to follow a short instruction, speak up in a group, and walk into Grade 1 knowing the people and the building.
In the week
Stories read aloud, songs, conversation, counting real things, and recognising shapes. English is used carefully, and children are expected to answer in sentences as they become able.
Sand, water, role play, and the yard are part of the timetable. A teacher is with the group. Play is how manners, sharing, and imagination are taught, not a gap between lessons.
Music and creative arts belong to the academy, including the early years. They are skills development, not a club reserved for a few children later on.

The school day
Monday to Friday, 7:10am to 3:30pm. The academy is closed on Saturday and Sunday. If you are unsure whether your child belongs in Kindergarten 1, Kindergarten 2, or still in day care, say so on the enquiry. Admissions will say which class is open, and which age band it is taking.
